Swiss Higher Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management
Programme Orientation
Hands-on practical training and hotel operation skills, such as Rooms Division, Food & Beverage Management and Event Organisation are the basis of this intensive two and a half year programme. Students will focus on operational management areas of a hotel, intercultural studies, general management courses, such as Marketing and Business Economics and conduct business simulations. Two paid 6-month internships are required components of the programme.



Learning Outcomes
Upon graduation, students of the Higher Diploma will be able to differentiate the needs of others and respect difference, particularly in cultural domains. They will have developed their skills in communication and teamwork, with a major knowledge focus on food and beverage and rooms division management. Students will be capable of working independently within these departments and may therefore be eligible for entry positions at a supervisory level in larger scale hotel operations.



Admission Criteria
18 years of age or over with successful completion of high school. Applicants with previous academic qualifications and/or work experience in the hospitality industry may be eligible for exemption from part of the first year of the programme. English language proficiency of TOEFL 500, IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. Applicants whose mother tongue is not English are given an English assessment on arrival. Those who do not have the required English level may join the 11-week «César Ritz» preparatory programme in English Language and Hotel Operations.
