English Language Programme at Institut Hôtelier «César Ritz»

The English Language Programme (ELP) is an intensive 11-week course designed to consolidate reading and writing skills, improve oral proficiency and develop study techniques. An introduction to some of the diploma courses taught at Institut Hôtelier «César Ritz» as well as several cultural excursions are included in the 20 hours of instruction per week. On the first day of term, students will be assessed for their level of English. Should their English skills not be of a sufficient level to enable them to follow the Higher Diploma Programme, they will be advised to enrol in the English Language Programme. Provided that the required English level is then attained, normally after one term, students will be admitted into the Higher Diploma Programme. Students may also decide to follow a course in a language school of their choice. In such instances, it is up to the individual student to make necessary arrangements. Please be aware that due to visa restrictions the possibility of studying English at other schools in Switzerland or in Europe often entails returning to your country of residence. Upon return to the school, students will be assessed again for English proficiency. Students whose English skills are slightly below the Institute’s requirements may be admitted into the Higher Diploma Programme, but will be required to take Supplementary English Support (4 hours per week) as the language component of Term 1.
