"César Ritz" Colleges on the Road to the Beijing 2008 Olympics

After the success of Athens 2004 and Torino 2006, “César Ritz” Colleges, Switzerland is, once again, the partner of choice for Presence Suisse to participate in the House of Switzerland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Other official partners of the House of Switzerland (HoS) for the 2008 Summer Olympics include Swiss Olympic, SRG-SSR the Swiss national TV which will run a studio at the HoS and live-feed from Swiss TV programs.

Lake Lucerne Region as the main sponsor will be promoting its famous tourist destinations to the Chinese market and the international visitors.

The operational management of the Food & Beverage outlets will be the responsibility of Gamma Catering AG who will recruit staff from “César Ritz” Colleges and IMI. Gamma successfully ran the restaurant at the Swiss Pavilion during the Aichi World Exposition in Japan and will do likewise at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo.  It is a great chance for the students to gain experience while working with experts in international event catering.

The 2008 Olympics will be held in China’s capital of Beijing from 8^th – 24^th August. It will be host to 10,500 athletes competing in over 28 sports, 38 disciplines and 302 competitions. Olympic organisers are expecting over 10 millions visitors and 20,000 accredited media throughout this period.

The HoS will be a meeting point for Swiss, international and/or local visitors, as well as Swiss Olympic delegation member such as athletes, officials and media. The HoS will be host to VIP’s and special events such as medal celebrations following Swiss athletes successes. It will also serve the main marketing platform for the Swiss regions and all other official sponsors and partners.

September 2007

• Gamma catering will publish the job descriptions, as well as the exact numbers of staff needed in the different departments of the future HoS Beijing 2008.
• "Cesar Ritz" Colleges will contact all former and current students of «César Ritz» Colleges, Switzerland and inform them about the application criteria.

September 2007 - December 2007

• "Cesar Ritz" Colleges will make a pre-selection of candidates for the HoS Beijing 2008 team.

January 2008 - February 2008

• Gamma Catering and "Cesar Ritz" Colleges will interview and select the team members.

March 2008 – July 2008

• “Cesar Rirz” Colleges will organize various information and team building sessions leading to the departure to Beijing at the end July. Besides the students who will join the team to operate the HoS Beijing 2008, Gamma Catering is looking into the possibility of hiring one or more trainees to assist in the pre-opening phase and liaise not only with the schools, but also with local Chinese authorities and suppliers.
