Open House for the launch of Themis and Xenius
Brig, 25 April 2008
The Open House was an excellent way to put our campus and student life on display for the local community. A number of articles and ads were placed in the local newspaper to invite the public for a tour of the site. We also sent out official invitations to political and local dignitaries.
We would like to thank the community of Brig-Glis for providing the new plot of land in such a short amount of time. We would also like to thank the various construction companies for their fantastic efforts in having finished the project in just one year.

On 25 April the University Centre “César Ritz” celebrated the official completion of the Themis and Xenius dorms with an open day complete with speeches, food, and all-around merriment. T&X, as they are affectionately called, house hospitality and tourism management students.
The big day finally arrived! With all the construction on T&X at an end, it was time to celebrate. Students have been living in the dorms since 3 October 2007 in spite of some minor construction continuing, especially from October to December in the Xenius building. With the dorms fully operational in January 2008, the focus turned to putting the finishing touches to the underground Chaos Bar.
On the day of the launch, the official guests arrived at 5.00 p.m. and were welcomed by Mr Kisseleff and Mr Schwestermann at the door. The opening ceremony at T&X began at 5.15 p.m. with a welcome address by Mr Daniel Gutzwiller. Next, Mr Martin Kisseleff and Mrs Viola Amherd, the city mayor, addressed the audience. To top it off, the minister of Brig-Glis, Mr Alois Breggy, blessed the buildings.
After that came the part everyone had been waiting for – an inside look at T&X. Guests toured both types of rooms, the Cosmos Coffee Bar in the lobby, the fitness centre, break-out study rooms, and even the dining rooms with their eight kitchens. Afterwards everyone met downstairs in the Chaos Bar for an informal chat, complete with aperitifs and delicious snacks.
Between 6.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. it was the local community’s turn for a tour of T&X and an aperitif. In all, around 170 guests attended the Open Day, a great success indeed.
