“César Ritz” Colleges (CRC) had not participated, nor been asked to participate in any ranking survey, but would be happy to do so if an organisation would make an objective ranking, based on a number of measurable factors agreed by all participating schools.

MIAMI CAREER DEVELOPMENT TRIP

Sunshine, long sandy beaches and beautiful hotels were what we expected when our noses turned west to Miami in Florida on Sunday 30 March. But after a ten hour flight it was rain and wind that met us when we stepped out of the airport.
Luckily, the rain didn’t last long and, as we drove into Miami Beach, the sun was there to greet us. So too was Christoph Wilke, our new Alumni Chapter President. He had organized a dinner at the Van Dyke café, with a long table, good food and live music. A great start to a great trip.

Sharpen your pencils and get the brains working for the Bourse Evian!
As defending champions, “César Ritz” Colleges is proud to host the final of the Bourse d'Evian for Young Talent in Bouveret on 21 May. The Bourse d'Evian was created by the Société des Eaux minérales d’Evian to encourage students of Swiss Hotel Schools to develop their creativity by presenting a standard or innovating project related to catering and/or the hotel business.

PANAMA, HERE WE COME!

Tourism is on the increase throughout Central and South America. An extreme example of the boom can be seen in Panama where, not unlike Dubai, the construction of hotels, condominiums, office buildings, and so on, is happening at such a rate that demand for materials and human resources is becoming critical.

OPEN HOUSE FOR THE LAUNCH OF THEMIS AND XENIUS

On 25 April the University Centre “César Ritz” celebrated the official completion of the Themis and Xenius dorms with an open day complete with speeches, food, and all-around merriment. T&X, as they are affectionately called, house hospitality and tourism management students.
The big day finally arrived! With all the construction on T&X at an end, it was time to celebrate. Students have been living in the dorms since 3 October 2007 in spite of some minor construction continuing, especially from October to December in the Xenius building.

LAUNCHING THE RACE TO BEIJING

After the success of Athens 2004 and Torino 2006, “César Ritz” Colleges, Switzerland is, once again, the partner of choice for Presence Suisse to participate in the House of Switzerland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The operational management of the Food & Beverage outlets will be the responsibility of Gamma Catering AG who will recruit staff from “César Ritz” Colleges and IMI. Gamma successfully ran the restaurant at the Swiss Pavilion during the Aichi World Exposition in Japan and will do likewise at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo. It is a great chance for the students to gain experience while working with experts in international event catering.

We are again looking forward to welcome recruiters from around the world to our annual Career Development Conference at the University Centre “César Ritz” (UCCR) in Brig.
On the basis of feedback from the industry and from our students, we have moved this year’s Career Development Conference from October to the first weekend of September – 5 to 7 September, to be exact. Not only are we very much looking forward to seeing industry representatives who have attended in previous years, we are also very pleased to be welcoming representatives of new properties who would like to take this unique opportunity to hire qualified, international, and highly motivated hospitality graduates.

INNOVATIVE CULINARY ARTS PROGRAMMES

«César Ritz» Colleges Switzerland is launching the Culinary Arts Academy, Switzerland. This innovative educational undertaking is based on 25 years of Food & Beverage teaching experience of «Cesar Ritz» Colleges and will further enhance the range of learning opportunities its students already enjoy. Located at Institut Hôtelier «César Ritz», the academy will initially offer two programmes, i.e. the Advanced Certificate in Culinary Arts and the Swiss Higher Diploma in Culinary Studies.

WORLD TOURISM ORGANIZATION ACCREDITS «CESAR RITZ» COLLEGES
|
|
For the first time in its existence, the World Tourism Organization’s Themis Institution has accredited study programmes of a Swiss Hotel Management School. In a first round of accreditation, the Swiss Diploma in Hotel Management and the Master of Science in International Hospitality Management, offered by «César Ritz» Colleges Switzerland received the prestigious label “TedQual” Accredited.
